Course policies

These terms are the contract between you and London Music Teachers Ltd (company no. 12240117, registered in England & Wales), trading as LMT Music Academy, 60–62 Great Titchfield Street, London W1W 7QF. All 18 clauses are below, grouped by topic.

Lesson schedulingYour 48-lesson year, closure weeks, your set day and time
  1. Clause 1:

We provide four lessons per month on aggregate (eight lessons per month if you have two lessons per week). This is based on 48 lessons per year (96 if you have two lessons per week), delivered across the Academy’s annual teaching calendar.

  2. Clause 2:

Each quarter (consisting of 13 weeks or 3 months) 12 lessons will be provided (24 lessons if you have two lessons per week). The remaining week of each quarter is an Academy closure week, when no lessons take place. The Academy sets its teaching calendar, including closure weeks, and will tell you the dates in advance.

Because of closure weeks and the different number of weeks in each month, a calendar month may include three, four or five of your lessons. Your monthly payment stays the same.

  3. Clause 3:

Courses are allocated a set time and day. Participants will not be allowed to change the course day or time once the course has started.

  4. Clause 4:

Courses cannot be put on hold at any time regardless of the reason.

Rescheduling, missed lessons & teachersNotice, your quarterly allowance, lessons we cancel
  1. Clause 5:

If you wish to reschedule a lesson, you must notify the Academy by email or WhatsApp at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson. Arranging the replacement lesson is then your responsibility: you agree the new time directly with your teacher. Two lessons per quarter may be rescheduled (four lessons per quarter if you have two lessons per week). Lessons cancelled by your teacher or the Academy do not count towards this allowance. Alternative lesson times are subject to teacher availability and cannot be guaranteed. A rescheduled lesson must be taken within the same quarter, unless the Academy agrees otherwise at its discretion; if it is not arranged and taken in time, it is lost.

Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or after your quarterly allowance has been used, are charged in full and are not replaced.

  2. Clause 6:

In exceptional circumstances, such as a genuine emergency, the Academy may at its discretion treat a late cancellation as if 48 hours’ notice had been given. This is a discretion, not an entitlement, and does not create an automatic right to a replacement lesson.

  3. Clause 7:

If your teacher or the Academy cancels a scheduled lesson, arranging the replacement lesson is our responsibility. Your teacher or the Academy will contact you to agree a new time, with your regular teacher or another suitably qualified teacher. We will offer replacement arrangements that allow the lesson to take place within four weeks of the original lesson date. Lessons cancelled by your teacher or the Academy do not count towards your quarterly rescheduling allowance (clause 5).

  4. Clause 8:

The Academy reserves the right to appoint a replacement teacher where necessary due to unforeseen circumstances. Where practicable, students will be informed of any such change in advance.

Payments, fees & leavingRegistration, monthly payment, cancellation rights, notice, fees
  1. Clause 9:

A one-off registration fee of £50 is payable when you enrol. If you cancel within the 14-day statutory cancellation period (clause 12), the registration fee is refunded together with your other payments, less any proportionate amount for lessons already provided.

  2. Clause 10:

Payment is required via standing order or direct debit on the 1st of each month after the first instalment.

  3. Clause 11:

If a monthly payment has not been received by the 5th of the month, we will remind you by email. A late payment fee of £20 may then be charged, no more than once for each late monthly payment.

  4. Clause 12:

Cancellation Rights, Early Commencement and Refunds

Where a course is booked online, by email or by telephone, the student has a statutory right to cancel the booking within 14 days of the date the contract is entered into, without providing a reason, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

To exercise this right, the student must notify LMT Music Academy of their decision to cancel by emailing contact@lmtmusicacademy.co.uk before the statutory cancellation period expires.

Where a student expressly requests that lessons commence during the 14-day cancellation period, the student acknowledges that, should they subsequently exercise their statutory right to cancel, the Academy is entitled to deduct or recover a proportionate amount for the services already provided up to the time cancellation is communicated, as permitted by law.

Where the contracted services have been fully performed during the cancellation period, following the student’s express request and acknowledgement of the consequent loss of cancellation rights, the statutory right to cancel will cease.

Once the statutory cancellation period has expired, all course bookings remain subject to the agreed minimum study commitment and contractual notice requirements. Course fees are non-refundable for cancellations, non-attendance, changes of personal circumstances or decisions not to continue, except where required by law or expressly provided for elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions.

Any refund due under the statutory cancellation provisions will be processed within 14 days of receiving the cancellation notice, subject to any deductions permitted by law.

Nothing in this clause excludes, restricts or otherwise affects the student’s statutory consumer rights.

  5. Clause 13:

If you would like to withdraw from lessons, we require four teaching weeks’ notice. A written notice is required via email. You can provide this notice at any time after completing two months of lessons.

A teaching week is a week in which your lessons are scheduled; Academy closure weeks do not count. Your notice period starts on the day we receive your email, and the lessons scheduled during it are payable.

Your earliest possible leaving date is therefore four teaching weeks after you complete your first two months of lessons. If your notice period ends part-way through a month, your final payment covers only the lessons scheduled up to the end of your notice period, at one quarter of your monthly fee per lesson (one eighth if you have two lessons per week).

  6. Clause 14:

We may change our fees, normally no more than once a year, to reflect changes in our costs, such as teacher pay, premises costs or inflation. We will tell you in writing at least 30 days before a new fee takes effect.

General conditionsBookings, conduct, unpaid fees and course changes
  1. Clause 15:

You cannot transfer or resell your booking without the explicit permission of London Music Teachers Ltd.

  2. Clause 16:

London Music Teachers Ltd reserves the right to suspend or end the course of any student in cases of serious misconduct, which includes harassment, abusive or threatening behaviour towards staff, teachers or other students, deliberate damage to our premises or instruments, and attending a lesson under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In such cases we may act immediately.

If your course is suspended or ended for serious misconduct, fees for lessons already provided and any overdue payments remain payable. No fees are charged for lessons after the date your course ends, and any payment already made for those lessons will be refunded.

  3. Clause 17:

If a payment remains unpaid 14 days after it was due, we will contact you in writing and give you a further 14 days to pay or to agree a payment plan with us. If the arrears are still not resolved, we may pause your lessons until they are paid, and, after giving you 7 days’ written notice, end your course. Fees for lessons already provided remain payable.

  4. Clause 18:

All information on our website is published to the best of our ability. We may make reasonable changes to course content and materials in the interest of course improvements, and we will give reasonable notice of any such changes where possible.
